Shooting - Malcolm X & Bainbridge (81st Precinct)

ON JANUARY 11, 2008 AT APPROXIMATELY 1903 HRS AN ON DUTY DETECTIVE HEARD GUNFIRE IN THE VICINITY OF REID AVE AND BAINBRIDGE STREET WITHIN THE CONFINES OF THE 81ST PCT. THE SUSPECTS THEN FLED IN A VEHICLE UNAWARE THAT THEY WERE BEING FOLLOWED BY THE DETECTIVE.

THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP IN THE VICINITY OF 296 LEXINGTON AVE (V/O 79 PCT) AND THE 2 MALES EXITED THEIR VEHICLE. THE DET ALSO FOLLOWED ON FOOT. THE SUSPECTS BECAME AWARE AND ONE MALE TURNED WITH A GUN IN HIS HAND AND THE DETECTIVE DISCHARGED HIS WEAPON.

IT IS BELIEVED THAT NEITHER OF THE MALES WAS STRUCK. THE 2 MALES THEN FLED INTO 298 LEXINGTON AVE, WHERE A SEARCH FOR THE SUSPECTS BEGAN. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION AT THE ORIGINAL SCENE IT WAS LEARNED THAT 2 MALES (M/B/17 & M/B/20) HAD SUSTAINED NON LIFE THREATENING GUNSHOT WOUNDS. BOTH VICTIMS WERE REMOVED TO KINGS COUNTY HOSPITAL IN STABLE CONDITION. A FIREARM HAS BEEN RECOVERED IN THE REAR OF 292 LEXINGTON AVE. A PHOTO OF THE FIREARM IS ATTACHED. INVESTIGATION CONTINUES.
