And we recall how common such violence once was. And we are relieved that every neighborhood has benefited from a historic drop in crime. Including Crown Heights and the surrounding communities.
But the murder of Carol Simon, 35, as her 9-year-old son waited in the family's SUV, highlights a dangerous trend across much of Brooklyn.
