On August 4, 2011 at approx 1840 hours police responded to a 911 call of a male shot in front of 125 Nostrand Avenue(Marcy Houses) in the confines of the 79 Pct. Upon arrival police discovered two people shot at the location. Victim #1 M/B/26 was shot 1x in the abdomen and taken to Woodhull Hospital where he was pronounced DOA. Victim #2 M/B/22 was shot 1x in the abdomen and taken to Kings County Hospital in stable condition. Investigation ongoing.

On Sunday, September 4, 2011 at approximately 2201 hours, police responded to a 911 call reporting a male shot at 585 Blake Avenue (Unity Plaza Houses) within the confines of the 75 precinct. Upon arrival of police, they discovered the victim (M/B/24) in front of 580 Blake Avenue shot in the head. EMS also responded to the location and pronounced the victim DOA. On Monday, August 1, 2011 at approx. 2330 hrs, the victim, F/W/28 was riding her bicycle in the rear of 72 Lewis Avenue in the confines of the 81 precinct when she was approached by two suspects, a M/B/approx. 20's and a M/H/ approx. 20's, who grabbed and threw her to the ground and ripped her purse off of her and fled to vicinity of 300 Vernon Ave.


Suspect#1 is described as a M/B/in his 20's with black hair and dark complexion. Weighing approx. 160-180 lbs, approx. 5'11 to 6'tall. Wearing a white t-shirt, dark colored pants and white sneakers.
Suspect#2 is described as a M/H/in is 20's with black hair and light complexion. Weighing approx. 180-120 lbs, approx. 5'11 to 6'0 tall. Wearing a green t shirt, dark colored shorts and light colored sneakers.

On Monday, August 29, 2011 at approximately 1709 hours police responded to a 911 call reporting a male shot inside of 785 Schenck Avenue (Boulevard Houses) within the confines of the 75 precinct. Upon arrival of police they discovered the victim (M/B/51) shot in the torso inside the elevator on the first floor of the location. Criminal Possession of a Weapon

NYPD Sergeant Robert Maloney, Police Officer Danny Fana and Police Officer Steven Minucci were recognized Thursday August 18, 2011 at Police Headquarters for apprehending an armed individual on June 2nd who Detectives later identified as the suspect in the murder of a 14- year-old boy that occurred the previous night in Crown Heights, Brooklyn.

The officers were on patrol in the 77 Precinct when they observed a man, Dequan Edwards, grabbing and adjusting his waistband while walking along Rochester Avenue. When the officers approached Edwards to stop and question him regarding what they believed was a gun in his possession he fled into a building. The officers pursued Edwards and apprehended him after a brief struggle.  At the time of the arrest Edwards was in possession of a loaded .22 caliber firearm.

After further investigation it was determined that Edwards was wanted for the homicide that occurred the previous night when 14- year- old Tyrek O'Hara-Morris was shot in the eye and killed on Park Place in Crown Heights, Brooklyn.

Edwards was charged with Homicide and Criminal Possession of a Weapon.

On Saturday August 13, 2011 at approximately 2141 hours, police responded to a 911 call of a male shot at 660 Willoughby Avenue in the confines of the 79 Precinct. Upon arrival, responding officers observed a M/B/36 with a gunshot wound to the chest. EMS also responded to the location and transported the victim to Kings County Hospital, where he was later pronounced DOA. There are no arrest(s) at this time. The investigation is ongoing.

On Saturday, July 9, 2011, at approximately 1055 hours, the suspect entered the Roosevelt Savings Bank, located at 111-10 Flatlands Avenue, and passed a note to the teller demanding money. The teller refused and the suspect fled the location without any property.


The suspect is described as being a M/B, 20-25 years old, approx. 5'4"-5'6", 140 lbs.

On Saturday July 16, 2011 at approximately 1903 hours at the corner of East 39 Street and Avenue J, within the confines of the 63 Precinct, a M/B/13 was approached by an unidentified suspect who fired a gun striking the victim in the buttocks. The suspect walked up East 39 Street towards Avenue K where he fired at a M/B/15 striking him in the torso. The suspect then fled the location on foot. Both victims were transported to Kings County Hospital where the 15 year old was pronounced DOA. There are no arrests at this time. The investigation is ongoing.

Guilty Verdicts in Attack on a Crown Heights Family

Two men accused of breaking into a Crown Heights apartment in 2007 and terrorizing a family during a robbery were convicted of sex abuse, robbery, assault and other charges on Monday [June 27, 2011] after a trial that lasted seven weeks in State Supreme Court in Brooklyn.


Justin Harris, 28, and Glendon Jackson,23, broke into the home on Sterling Place in the early morning hours of Aug. 30, 2007, with a third man, DeShawn Owens, 28, according to testimony from several victims. Mr. Jackson was convicted of rape; he attacked a 43-year-old mother and her 17-year-old daughter in a bathroom while another daughter, 5, looked on.

Teenager Beaten by Gang Dies (75th Precinct)

On Monday, June 6, 2011 at approximately 2228 hrs at the corner of Van Siclen Ave and Wortman Ave, within the confines of the 75 Pct, Police responded to a 911 call of a male being assaulted. Upon arrival, responding Officers discovered the victim, a M/B/17, unconscious and unresponsive. EMS also responded to the scene and transported the victim to Brookdale Hospital where on Friday, June 17, 2011 he succumb to his injuries. An ongoing investigation has determined that the victim was chased to the corner then beaten by a group of approximately 10 male blacks. There are no arrests.

Brooklyn teen shot to death just blocks from his home while walking with his friends: cops

A 14-year-old Brooklyn boy was shot to death just blocks from his home, police said Thursday.

Tyrek O'Hara-Morris took a bullet in the head about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday as he walked with pals in Crown Heights, cops said.

"He was just out with friends," his mother Althea O'Hara said. "It was a nice, hot summer day."

Tyrek was taken to Kings County Hospital but could not be saved. No arrests have been made.

Police sources said the youth, who attended Automotive High School in Fort Greene, had been arrested several times in the past for fighting.

One young man said he ran to help after gunshots rang out.

"I heard 'pop-pop' when I was on the corner up the street. I ran over and there was a crowd around him," he said.

Relatives said although Tyrek had gotten into some trouble in the streets, he had good heart and came from a strong, caring family.

"We all tried hard to intervene and let him know to try to be on the right path," said his aunt Constance O'Hara-Budd, a teacher from Valley Stream, L.I.
"Normally when these things happen, you hear people come on the news and they say, 'Oh, my son was good kid,' but he was a good kid."

Tyrek's mother said her son was set to travel to England to spend the summer with his father in Bristol.

"He was looking forward to this summer," she said. "He was finally going to spend the summer with his father. This was going to be a new beginning for him."

Murder at Weeksville Houses (77th Precinct)

On Monday, May 30th, 2011 at 0511 hours, police responded to a call of shots fired in the vicinity of Pacific Street and Schenectdy Avenue. Upon arrival, an unresponsive M/B/37 was discovered in front of 1650 Pacific Street, the victim of two gunshot wounds, one to the left arm region and one to the left side of his head.
EMS responded and removed aided to King County Hospital, where he was pronounced DOA at 0553 hours. There are no arrests at this time and the investigation is ongoing.

Brooklyn handyman found shot in the head a block from his home

A Brooklyn handyman died early Monday after being shot in the head while riding his bike a block from his house, cops said.

Kareem Russell, 37, was found lying in front of a building on Pacific St. near Schenectady Ave. in Crown Heights a little after 5 a.m., police said.

He was shot once in the left arm and once on the left side of his head.

Russell was taken to Kings County Hospital where he died a short time later.

No arrests have been made.

Relatives said Russell was the father of an 8-year-old boy and 5-year-old girl and worked as a handyman, doing plumbing and electrical work for a living.

"He was a family guy," said his 25-year-old sister, who would not give her name. "He was a good person. He was very kind. He had a good sense of humor."

Russell's aunt, who also would not give her name, said she suspected he was just in the wrong place at the the wrong time.

"He was like my son," she said. "He was a good kid. He would do anything for anybody."

"I don't know what happened. I wish it didn't," she said.

Teen Killed on Halsey Street (83rd Precinct)

On May 28, 2011 at approx 0105 hours police responded to a 911 call of a male shot at Halsey Street and Broadway in the confines of the 83 Pct. Upon arrival police discovered a M/B/19 shot 1x in the head and 1x in the chest. He was transported to Woodhull Hospital where he was pronounced DOA.

WANTED for Shooting on a Bus in Bushwick (83rd Precinct)

The New York City Police Department is asking the public's assistance in identifying the suspect wanted for a shooting within the confines of the 83 Pct. Details are as follows:

On Wednesday May 18, 2011 at approximately 1640 hours police responded to a 911 call of a male shot on a NYC MTA Bus (B60) at Stanhope St and Central Ave. Upon arrival, responding officers discovered the victim, a M/B/18 shot 1x in the torso. EMS responded to the location and transported the victim to Elmhurst Hospital where he is listed in stable condition.

The suspect is described as M/B/18 wearing a light blue Holister sweatshirt

Upon arrival, responding Officers discovered the victim, a M/B/24, shot in the torso. EMS also responded to the location and transported the victim to Woodhull Hospital where he was pronounced DOA. There are no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.

On Wednesday May 11, 2011 at approximately 0033 hours police responded to a 911 call of a male shot at 234 Ralph Avenue in the confines of the 81st Precinct. Upon arrival, responding officers observed a M/B/23 with gunshot wounds to the head and lower back. EMS responded and pronounced the male DOA at the scene. There are no arrest(s) at this time. WANTED for March Murder on Sterling Place (77th Precinct)

On Sunday, March 13, 2011 at approximately 1949 hours, police responded to a report of shots fired inside 709 Sterling Place, in the confines of the 77 Precinct.  Upon arrival officers found a M/B/30 shot twice in the chest, unconscious and unresponsive.  Two unknown suspects fled on foot in an unknown direction.  EMS also responded and transported the victim to Kings County Hospital, where he was pronounced DOA.
