WANTED for Attempted Murder of 18-Yr-Old on Nostrand Avenue (70th Precinct)

The New York City Police Department is asking the public's assistance in identifying the suspect, as well as his two accomplices, wanted for a shooting within the confines of the 70 Precinct. Details are as follows:On Tuesday, September, 27, 2011 at approximately 1500 hours in front of 2154 Nostrand Ave the victim, a M/B/18, was shot 4 times by Suspect #1 after having a verbal dispute with him. EMS responded to the scene and removed the victim to Kings County Hospital with gun shots wounds to his torso, groin and leg and a graze wound to his head. He is currently listed in critical, but stable, condition.


Attached is a video of the incident. In the video, you can see Suspect #2, a M/B dressed in all black, on the left side of the screen walking backwards handing a black bag to Suspect #3, a M/B wearing a white t-shirt and dark jeans. Suspect #3 takes the bag and removes a .32 caliber S&W revolver out of it and places it in his waistband. Suspect #3 then hands the weapon to Suspect #1, a M/B wearing a red jacket and light colored pants, in the doorway of McDonalds. The victim, wearing a white tank top and dark shorts, goes to enter McDonalds and is shot by Suspect #1. The suspects then flee into McDonalds, escaping through a side door.

MISSING: James Richards, 88 years old (70th Precinct)

POLICE ARE ASKING FOR THE PUBLIC'S ASSISTANCE IN LOCATING JAMES RICHARDS, A M/BH/88, LAST SEEN AT APPROX 1700 HRS ON 07-20-08 AT 700 OCEAN AVE. IN THE CONFINES OF THE 70 PCT.

MISSING IS 5'9", 120 LBS, IS OF THIN BUILD, WITH GRAY HAIR AND A THIN MUSTACHE. HE WAS WEARING A BLUE SHIRT AND JACKET, AND BLACK PANTS AND SHOES. MISSING IS OF GOOD PHYSICAL, BUT POOR MENTAL CONDITION.

Fatal Stabbing, E. 22nd Street (70th Precinct)

AT APPROX 0650 HRS ON 07-06-08 AT 330 E.22 ST. IN THE CONFINES OF THE 70 PCT. POLICE RESPONDED TO A F/B/30 WHO HAD SUFFERED MULTIPLE STAB WOUNDS. THE VICTIM WAS TRANSPORTED TO KCH IN CRITICAL CONDITION WHERE SHE WAS PRONOUNCED DOA. ID PENDING FAMILY NOTIFICATION.

Midnight murder, Vanderveer & Flatbush (70th Precinct)

ON 06/28/2008 AT APPROXIMATELY 0007 HRS, IN THE CONFINE OF THE 70 PRECINCT, AT THE INTERSECTION OF VANDERVEER PLC & FLATBUSH AVE, THE POLICE RESPONDED TO A 911 CALL FOR SHOTS FIRED. UPON ARRIVAL THE POLICE DISCOVERED A M/B/17 SHOT 1X IN THE TORSO.

EMS RESPONDED AND TRANSPORTED THE AIDED TO KINGS COUNTY HOSPITAL WERE HE WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD AT 0030 HRS.

THIS INCIDENT IS UNDER INVESTIGATION, NO ARRESTS AT THIS TIME.

Brooklyn Gets 600 New Operation Impact Officers

The NYPD is sending 1,800 rookies to patrol high-crime pockets that have resisted the overall crime drop, officials said Wednesday as they announced the city is poised to have the fewest murders in 44 years.

One third of the officers - some 600 cops - will be deployed in hot spots in six Brooklyn precincts starting tomorrow.

Of the 76 police precincts in New York, there were 6 that showed slight increases in overall crime, officials said. Of those, four were in Brooklyn — the 73rd, 77th, 79th and 84th Precincts; one in Queens, the 101st Precinct; and one on Staten Island, the 122nd Precinct.

Mr. Kelly said that about one-third of the 1,800 officers in the program would be sent to central Brooklyn precincts: the 70th, 71st, 73rd, 75th, 77th and 79th. Also, 45 officers will be assigned to northern Brooklyn as Impact Response Team officers, a flexible component within Operation Impact where the borough commander has the option of using the officers as he sees fit.

The program will focus primarily on several precincts in Brooklyn, where violent crime has gone up even as it fell throughout the rest of the borough. For example, in the 79th Precinct, which covers the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood, shootings were up 26 percent this year, Kelly said.

Along Nostrand Avenue in Bedford-Stuyvesant Wednesday, community reaction to the prospect of a flood of new uniformed recruits on the street was mixed.

"There is a lot of racial profiling, and I'm afraid there will be more harassment," said Diane Graham, 51, a social worker and longtime resident.

But Kato Bryant, 59, a barber who has lived in the area for 35 years and who is a member of the 79th Precinct Community Council, says visible police presence is the backbone of any stable neighborhood.

"You need the police officers like you need the church," Bryant said. "Police officers, the church minister -- this is what makes up the community."
