On Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at approximately 1234 hours, in the basement of 25 Brooklyn Avenue, in the confines of the 79 Precinct, police responded to a call of an unconscious person. Upon arrival the remains of an unidentified, decomposed were found.

Upon further investigation, the Medical Examiner's Office has deemed this incident a homicide due to blunt trauma to the head.
The victim has been identified as Elizabeth Merced, a F/B/39 of 633 Wilson Avenue, Brooklyn.
