More than two years after honor student Benny Lyde [pictured] was fatally shot outside his parents' Brooklyn home, cops Thursday arrested the man who allegedly pulled the trigger over a beef involving Lyde's friends, police sources said.
Cody Nelson, 24, was on leave from the Army on Sept. 2, 2005, when he shot 20-year-old Lyde, a senior at Long Island University, in the head in Crown Heights, sources said.
Lyde, who was known as "Mr. Benny" to the needy children he taught to read, fell into a coma and died of his wounds three months later.
